Quick Start: – Home – Calendar – Series Rules – Points – Standings – Links	Points, Prizes, Fun, and Mayhem in Western Canada Welcome to the Great Western Adventure Racing Series With an unprecedented agreement among three of Canada's top Adventure Racing companies, we are excited to announce the Great Western Adventure Racing Series! Frontier Adventure Sports + Training, Race the Rockies and the Full Moon Adventure Company have come together to promote the sport of adventure racing and offer a season of events to challenge you. At the end of the season, the winners will be proclaimed the Western AR Champions and will receive a large prize package including choice of free entry into Raid the North, Race the Rockies, or Full Moon in June 2010. These three groups have been growing the sport of adventure racing for over a decade and offer unique and outstanding races. GWARS will help that to continue. Brian Gallant, co-owner of the Full Moon Adventure Company stated, "In a sport where races come and go every year, our three organizations have stuck it out and helped bring the sport to fruition out west. We've always worked together informally, now we're doing it formally". "I don't think we have seen such an exciting development in Western Canada in years" commented Geoff Langford, director of Frontier Adventure Racing. Mike Melnick, director of Race the Rockies, further stated that, "This is about encouraging people to race; it gives competitors something new to strive towards". Participating in the Race Series The series offers six races that qualify for a variety of points, which is explained on the Points page. A team must compete in three of the six to qualify. While there are additional points winning and for longer races, this series focuses more heavily on participation. After every race the directors will submit team results to a central database where they will be added onto a team's profile. At the end of the season all team points will be tallied and one lucky team will be proclaimed the Western AR Champions. Once the results start coming in, they will be accessible on this website.
